We would like to warmly welcome Mr. Marty Dybicz to the faculty and staff of St. Rocco Parish School as our interim principal.
Marty Dybicz was raised by devout Catholic parents in a lower middle class neighborhood on the Near South Side of Chicago.
He attended St. Ignatius College Prep (1972) where he was a National Merit Student and ran Cross Country and Track. He has a Master’s Degree in Religious Education from John Carroll University (1982) and is a 1976 graduate of Xavier University with a major in History (and course work for a major in Theology and minors in Philosophy and Classics, although XU did not give double majors or minors at the time).
He taught Theology at St. Ignatius High School 1978-1989 and 1993-2017. He has been doing religious education at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish since 2017. In the 1990s, he was a part-time instructor at Cuyahoga Community College and Borromeo Seminary. 1989-1993 he was a Personal Trust Officer at Society National Bank. 1976-1978 he did religious education for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
He will have three books published by En Route Books and Media in 2019. He writes a monthly column for Catholic Stand at www.catholicstand.com. On 1220 AM every Thursday night 9:00-10:00 PM, he hosts a radio show, From the Median, which covers all aspects of the building a culture of life.
He has a strong history of community service. For four years, he participated in XU’s Student Volunteer Services, of which he was the president his senior year. For six years he taught the required community service course at St. Ignatius (“Sophomore Service”), where he also moderated its Christmas Food Drive for twelve years along with other service programs. He is currently the President of the Board of Directors of LifeWorks Ohio, which educates grade school and high school students about the right to life, and Vice President of the Board of Directors of L’Arche Cleveland, which provides dignified living for adults with developmental disabilities.
Residents of Cleveland Heights, he and his wife of 41 years have 4 adult children and 3 grandchildren.
During the school Christmas break we will be painting in the school building. Hopefully with volunteers, we can get this completed between December 26th and January 2nd. If you can paint and can help, please call the Parish Office. Thank you!!!!

The Mercedarian Order will be celebrating its 800th Anniversary of Foundation in 2018. In preparation for that Jubilee Year, each preceding year has been dedicated to a proper devotion of the Order.
This year is dedicated to Christ, the Redeemer: The last year in preparation for the 800th Jubilee of the Order’s Foundation ( 1218-2018 ). Christ Jesus is the image of the invisible God: Christ Jesus is the Face of the Father: Christ Jesus is our Redeemer who has ransomed us from the slavery of sin and the snares of the from living as a “free” child of God.

Many of our school children are in need of school uniform sweaters/hoodies to keep them warm in these cooler months.

Every household received an envelope entitled “Christmas Flowers.” These envelopes are for your use to make an offering for the poinsettias in church in memory of loved ones or for particular intentions.
The offering for each plant is $15.00. Please keep thin in mind when returning your envelopes. There are also order slips for the flowers in the church narthex (vestibule).
ALL order forms / envelopes for flowers need to be turned into the parish office by December 18th.

Always welcoming anyone who would like to assist with the distribution of food and goods to the less fortunate in our neighborhood.
Our parish Food Pantry is open the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month, from 9-11am. If you would like to help, please call the Parish Office. Note: Donations of canned and non-perishable food items are accepted the last Sunday of each month.
If you are, went to, or graduated from St. Rocco School or if you know someone from our school, but does not belong to our Parish or simply has moved out of the area, please let them know that we are asking all ALUMNI to register themselves with our office.
This year is the 90th Anniversary of the school and we would like to make it a memorable year for the school Alumni and the Parish.
